Dr Jitendra Singh urges J&K Youth to embrace startups over Govt Jobs
Jammu, Feb 22 (KINS): Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh urged Jammu & Kashmir youth to move beyond the “Sarkari Naukri” mindset and explore entrepreneurship, emphasizing the potential of startups in economic growth.
Inaugurating the National Startup Festival at Government College for Women, Jammu, he highlighted the success of agriculture-based startups, particularly the Purple Revolution, which has enabled over 3,000 youth to earn in lakhs through lavender cultivation. He encouraged urban areas to join the startup wave, especially in high-value agriculture.
With India ranking third in the global startup ecosystem, Dr. Singh stressed the need for industry linkages, market research, and innovation. He also praised the role of women in India’s space missions and hailed the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for fostering digital inclusivity.
During the festival, he visited 45 startup stalls, interacting with young entrepreneurs and reaffirming the government’s commitment to making J&K a hub of innovation and self-reliance.(KINS)
