Srinagar, April 29 (KINS): A high-level special security meeting was convened today at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) amid heightened security concerns following the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists.
The meeting, chaired by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, brought together the Directors General of all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Security Guard (NSG) and Assam Rifles.
Sources said the meeting focused on coordinated intelligence-sharing, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, and the immediate deployment of reinforcements in sensitive areas. While specific details of the discussions remain classified due to operational sensitivity, officials confirmed that multiple strategic measures were deliberated upon to prevent any further escalation.
This crucial security review follows the brutal Pahalgam attack, one of the deadliest in the Valley in recent years, which has prompted widespread condemnation and a sharp escalation in security operations.
Simultaneously, intensive search and raid operations are underway across Jammu and Kashmir as part of a larger counter-terror drive.
The objective, according to an official sources, was to seize weapons, documents, digital devices, and other incriminating material that could aid in uncovering and preventing conspiracies against national security.(KINS)
