No need to panic, situation under control: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Schools and colleges across J&K will remain closed tomorrow: Sakina Itoo

KINS Desk

Srinagar, Aug 27 (KINS): Authorities in Kashmir on Wednesday reassured the public that there is no cause for panic as the administration is closely monitoring the prevailing weather conditions across the Valley.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) said that teams from the Irrigation and Flood Control Department have been deployed from South to North Kashmir to monitor water levels in rivers and streams.
“Adverse weather conditions are prevailing, but the situation is under control. Our water gauge levels are being tracked continuously at Sangam in Anantnag and at Ram Munshi Bagh in Srinagar. All Deputy Commissioners of South and Central Kashmir are on the ground monitoring the situation,” Garg said.
The Divisional Commissioner emphasized that the government is prepared to deal with any emergency. “Public safety is our top priority. The Chief Secretary and Raj Bhawan are also keeping a close watch. Plans are already in place for vulnerable and low-lying areas,” he said.
He added that the weather is expected to improve soon. “As per IMD forecasts, no major activity is predicted and rains should recede in the next few hours. People should remain alert, and at the same time, stay calm. We are watchful, and necessary measures have been taken,” Garg assured.
Officials urged residents to follow the guidelines issued by the authorities, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Meanwhile, in view of the inclement weather, the Education Minister Sakina Itoo has ordered the closure of schools and colleges tomorrow.
Educational institutions had already remained closed in six districts on Tuesday.(KINS)
