Fuel Prices hiked by ₹3.04 per litre; petrol at Rs 97.77, Diesel at Rs 90.67

New Delhi, May 15: Fuel prices across the country have been increased by ₹3.04 per litre, with petrol now priced at Rs 97.77 per litre and diesel at Rs 90.67 per litre, officials said on Friday.
The revised rates came into effect immediately, adding to the financial burden on commuters, transporters and households already facing rising living expenses.
The hike comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to focus on reducing fuel consumption and adopt energy-saving measures to cut dependence on conventional fuels.
Experts believe the increase in fuel prices is likely to have a cascading impact on transportation costs and the prices of essential commodities in the coming days. Economists also warned that the hike could add to inflationary pressure in the market.
Transport operators expressed concern over the fresh increase, saying higher fuel costs would directly affect fares and logistics expenses.
Meanwhile, opposition parties criticised the government over the price rise, alleging that repeated hikes in fuel rates are putting additional pressure on common people struggling with inflation and unemployment.
