Srinagar, Apr 07: The Jammu and Kashmir Police issued a stark warning to fellow law enforcement officers, government officials, and the general public regarding a fraudulent individual masquerading as R R Swain, the Director General of Police (DGP) for the Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that operating under the guise of the DGP, the imposter, utilizing the mobile phone number 8891979985, has been duping unsuspecting victims into parting with their money through deceptive means.
“Reports indicate that the fraudster has been targeting various individuals, including fellow police officers, under the false pretext of seeking financial assistance. With a calculated approach, the scammer is exploiting trust within the police fraternity, attempting to ensnare those who may be more susceptible to such schemes”.
In response to these deceitful actions, police has initiated legal proceedings to identify and apprehend the perpetrator. However, stress the importance of community vigilance in thwarting such fraudulent activities.
“Friends, colleagues, and relatives are urged to remain vigilant and cautious, not only in relation to this specific individual but also regarding any similar suspicious characters who may attempt to exploit trust for personal gain in the future”.
This cautionary advisory serves as a reminder of the necessity to verify the authenticity of communications, especially when financial transactions are involved. Any instances of suspicious activity or unsolicited requests for money should be promptly reported to the relevant authorities for investigation.
