Notification Issued for Lok Sabha Polls in Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency

Srinagar, Apr 17: The Returning Officer for the 2-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency issued a notification on Thursday, marking the commencement of preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in the Srinagar parliamentary constituency.
According to the notification, nominations for the parliamentary seat can be submitted by candidates or their representatives to the Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner Srinagar) or the Additional Returning Officer (Additional Deputy Commissioner (M)) at the DC Office Srinagar, Amar Niwas Complex, between 11:00 am and 03:00 pm on any non-public holiday until April 25, 2024 (Thursday).
The notification further states that nomination forms are available at the specified locations during the mentioned times. Scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place at the RO Office 2-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, DC Office Srinagar, Amar Niwas Complex, on April 26, 2024 (Friday) at 10:30 am.
Candidates also have the option to withdraw their candidature, with the notice of withdrawal to be submitted by the candidate, their representatives, or the authorized election agent to the specified officers at the mentioned office before 03:00 pm on April 29, 2024 (Monday).
In the event of contested elections, the polling is scheduled to take place on May 13, 2024 (Monday), between 07:00 am and 6:00 pm, as per the notification. The announcement sets in motion the electoral process for the crucial parliamentary constituency, shaping the political landscape in the region.
