DEO Srinagar Reviews Preparations for 2nd Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls-2024

No eligible elector of the District be left unregistered: DEO Srinagar

SRINAGAR, JULY 23: To ensure the smooth conduct of the 2nd Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls-2024, the District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, chaired a meeting with AROs, EROs, and other officers at the DC Office Complex’s Meeting Hall.

The DEO thoroughly reviewed the action plan for registering all eligible electors in all 08 Assembly segments of Srinagar District. He emphasized that the primary objective of the 2nd SSR-2024 is to keep the Electoral Roll updated, facilitate the fresh enrollment of young eligible voters aged 18 or older as of the qualifying date, correct elector particulars, and address objections to any incorrect inclusions in the Electoral Roll.

The Election Commission of India has directed the completion of pre-revision activities and the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls from July 25 to August 9, with July 1, 2024, as the qualifying date. The DEO instructed officers to ensure the addition of new voters, inclusion of left-out voters, rectification of photographs, and updating/deleting duplicate entries as per ECI guidelines.

The DEO urged EROs/AEROs to build momentum from the outset and supervise the process with focused attention to ensure 100% registration of all eligible electors, ensuring no one is left unregistered. He also stressed the need to complete the SSR-2024 process within the given timeline and meet the targets, particularly during the special camps on July 27-28 and August 3-4, 2024.

The meeting was attended by EROs, AEROs, the Deputy District Election Officer, officials of the District Election Authority Srinagar, and other concerned personnel.
