SMC Launches Cleanliness Drive and Distributes Eco-Friendly Bags in Srinagar Markets

Srinagar, August 05: In a significant step towards a cleaner and more sustainable city, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has initiated a special cleanliness drive across major markets in Srinagar. This initiative, part of the Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign, aims to enhance sanitation standards and promote eco-friendly practices.
SMC teams of sanitation workers have been deployed to ensure that Srinagar’s bustling markets remain free of litter. The corporation’s commitment to creating a greener city is exemplified by this concerted effort to improve overall hygiene and cleanliness.
As part of its sustainability goals, SMC has distributed eco-friendly bags to shopkeepers and consumers. These reusable and biodegradable bags offer an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use plastic bags, aiming to reduce plastic waste and encourage sustainable living practices in Srinagar.
By actively engaging shopkeepers and consumers in using eco-friendly bags, SMC is advocating for a reduction in plastic pollution and a shift towards more sustainable habits. The corporation urges all residents and businesses in Srinagar to embrace this initiative, supporting the drive towards a cleaner and greener future for the city.
Through collaborative efforts and conscious choices, Srinagar can pave the way for a more environmentally responsible and sustainable community. Together, let us work towards a cleaner, healthier, and more vibrant Srinagar.
