Police Seize Large Quantity of Illicit Liquor in Anantnag, Two Arrested

Srinagar, Aug 22 (KINS): In a major crackdown on illicit liquor production, Anantnag Police seized a large quantity of country-made alcohol during a raid in Bijbehara. Acting on a tip-off, police officers raided a site in Pazalpora, Bijbehara, near Jadoo Point, uncovering approximately 950 litres of illegally produced liquor along with equipment used in the operation.
Two individuals, Azad Singh and Suraj Chohan, originally from Akola, Maharashtra, and currently residing in Pazalpora, have been arrested for their involvement in the production and distribution of the illicit liquor.
The case has been registered under FIR No. 168/2024 at Bijbehara Police Station, and an investigation is underway. This decisive action highlights the Anantnag Police’s commitment to upholding excise laws and combating illegal activities in the region.
