Jammu, Oct 11 ( KINS) : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially extended its support to the J&K National Conference-led alliance in Jammu and Kashmir. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party submitted its letter of support to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
“Aam Aadmi Party will support JKNC in Jammu & Kashmir, and the letter has been submitted to the Lt Governor,” stated the party. AAP currently has one MLA in the J&K Assembly.
In the recently concluded assembly elections, AAP’s Mehraj Malik, from Doda, secured a victory over BJP’s Gajay Singh Rana, marking the party’s first win in the region. The J&K National Conference-Congress alliance won 48 seats in total, with JKNC, led by Farooq Abdullah, securing 42 and Congress winning six. On Thursday, four independent MLAs also extended their support to the National Conference. With AAP and the independents’ backing, the INDIA bloc now holds 53 seats, surpassing the 48-seat majority in the 95-member J&K Legislative Assembly.( KINS)
