Srinagar, Oct 11 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief, Tariq Hameed Karra, said on Friday that his party has not made any formal demands regarding government formation with the National Conference.
“We have not put forward any demands. We will extend our support letter to the NC by this evening. Everything will be discussed once we meet with the NC leadership,” Karra told reporters, according to the news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS). This was in response to a question about whether the Congress has requested the Deputy Chief Minister’s post.
The NC and Congress contested the recent assembly elections together and are set to form government in Jammu and Kashmir.
A total of 873 candidates participated across 90 constituencies—47 in Kashmir and 43 in the Jammu region. The vote count, which took place on October 8, saw the National Conference (NC) emerge as the leading party with 42 seats, followed by the BJP with 29, Congress with 6, JKPDP with 3, and smaller parties and independents winning the remaining seats.
NC leader Omar Abdullah is set to become the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. (KINS)
