DC Baramulla visits families of Porters killed in terrorist attack, extends condolences & financial support

Srinagar, Oct 25 (KINS): Following the tragic deaths of two porters in a brutal attack at Bota Pathri, Gulmarg, on the evening of October 24, 2024, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri, Javaid Ahmad, visited the bereaved families today on the directions of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.
During the visit to Nowshera Boniyar, the residence of the slain porter Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad, the DC extended heartfelt condolences to the family and assured them of the administration’s unwavering support during this difficult time.
The delegation also visited Barnate Boniyar, home of the other victim, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, where they paid their respects and recognized the service and sacrifice of the deceased.
The visit garnered strong community support, with a large gathering of locals coming together to pay tribute to the memory of the porters and express solidarity with their families.
As part of the visit, the DC presented compensation cheques of ₹6 lakh to each family, aiming to provide immediate relief during this period of loss. He reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to stand with the families in their time of grief, pledging ongoing support to ensure they have access to necessary resources as they move forward.(KINS)
