BJP seeks CBI Probe into Rohingya settlement in Jammu

Srinagar, Dec 09 (KINS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday alleged that the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu city is a part of a major “conspiracy” and demanded a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The party’s Jammu and Kashmir chief spokesperson, Advocate Sunil Sethi, urged the Lieutenant Governor to initiate a CBI probe and file an FIR to investigate the individuals or groups responsible for facilitating the settlement of these refugees in the region.
Sethi stated that the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu began around the same time that militancy took root in the region in the 1990s, suggesting a deliberate and coordinated effort behind their settlement.
“This is a major conspiracy that warrants a CBI probe. All forces behind this should be exposed and punished,” he said, condemning those who supported the settlement on religious grounds.
The BJP leader also raised concerns about the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in facilitating the resettlement of these immigrants, questioning the sources of funding for such groups. “Was the funding sourced domestically or from abroad? The BJP believes the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu, an area close to the international border, was part of a well-thought-out conspiracy,” he added.
Sethi further criticized political parties that support the settlement of these refugees, accusing them of hypocrisy. “Ironically, these are the same individuals who opposed the abrogation of Article 370 and claimed that no Indian could settle in Jammu and Kashmir. Yet, they facilitated the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu. Indians residing in other parts of India cannot settle in Jammu and Kashmir, but these illegal immigrants were allowed to settle here based solely on religion,” he said.(KINS)
