Omar Abdullah urges PM Modi to fulfill Statehood promise at Z-Morh Tunnel Inauguration

KINS DESK
Srinagar, Jan 13 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfill his promise of restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, Omar as per news gathering agency KINS, praised the Prime Minister for delivering on two of the three commitments he made during a speech in Srinagar last year.
“Out of the three promises you made, the ‘Delhi ki Doori’ has been bridged, and assembly elections have been conducted in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the third promise—restoring statehood—is still pending,” Omar said, addressing PM Modi directly. “People often ask me about it, and my heart believes that you will fulfill this promise soon,” he added.
Omar began his speech by paying tribute to the seven individuals, including a doctor, who were killed in a terrorist attack at Gagangeer in October last year while working on the Sonamarg Tunnel project.
“These individuals sacrificed their lives for this project and the progress of the nation. Over the past 35 years, many people in Jammu and Kashmir have laid down their lives for the development of this country. My party has also made significant sacrifices for the nation’s progress,” he said.
Omar Abdullah also highlighted the symbolic significance of the Prime Minister’s presence at the event. “Your presence here sends a strong message to those who do not want Jammu and Kashmir to prosper. Such elements will not succeed and will face defeat,” he declared.
The Z-Morh Tunnel is expected to transform connectivity in the region, boosting tourism and economic opportunities while showcasing the government’s commitment to Jammu and Kashmir’s development.(KINS)
