Srinagar Jan 21 (KINS): A 19-year-old powerlifting athlete from Kashmir has secured the 5th position in the Under-19 national-level competitions. Competing in the 66 kg junior division for the first time, Anas displayed an impressive performance, surprising both spectators and fellow athletes with his ranking.

Hailing from Srinagar, Anas Butt lifted 162.50 kg in Chhattisgarh, earning him the 5th position. Over 1,000 athletes from 22 cities across the country participated in the event. This was Anas Butt’s debut in the IPF Subrata Classic National Powerlifting Championship held in Chhattisgarh.

In the three core categories of the competition—Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift—Anas achieved a combined total of 457.6 kg. This not only marked a significant achievement on the national stage but also demonstrated his immense potential to become a standout player in the powerlifting community.

Although Anas finished 5th, his efforts were highly appreciated by the competition’s judges. His participation in the Subrata Classic has not only inspired powerlifting enthusiasts nationwide but also set a new benchmark for young athletes in Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, Anas said that despite it being his first national competition, the IPF Subrata Classic has shown him a bright future in powerlifting.
