All areas in Srinagar receiving scheduled water supply, says Jal Shakti Minister
Jammu, March 06 (KINS): Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmad Rana, informed the House on Friday that all areas in Srinagar are covered under the scheduled potable water supply provided by the department.
Responding to a query from legislator Shamima Firdous, the minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the smooth supply of essential services and timely repairs of defunct water supply schemes.
“There is no defunct water supply pipeline in Srinagar. Whenever a distribution line gets damaged, it is promptly restored under stage contracts, and irreparable pipelines are replaced with new ones,” he stated.
He assured that the department is supplying sufficient potable water in accordance with the schedules of existing water treatment plants, with no area left uncovered.
MLA Mubarak Gul raised supplementary questions on the matter, while MLA Reyaz Ahmad Khan inquired about water-related works in Shangus. Rana clarified that Public Health Engineering (PHE) works in the region are managed by PHE Division Bijbehara, irrigation works by Irrigation Division Anantnag, and flood-related projects by Flood Control Division Anantnag.
He further stated that there is no immediate need for separate facilities in Shangus, assuring that the government remains committed to providing basic amenities in all remote areas.(KINS)
