Mehbooba Mufti slams Omar Abdullah Govt for prioritizing Bureaucratic Transfers over public issues
Srinagar, April 4 (KINS): Former Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday criticized the Omar Abdullah-led government for convening a meeting of alliance partners over the issue of employees’ transfers, instead of addressing pressing public concerns.
Speaking to reporters as per KINS, Mehbooba accused the government of diverting attention from critical issues, such as the release of prisoners and workers’ rights, and instead focusing on what she termed as “small issues” like the transfer of Patwaris.
“People voted for larger issues—the release of prisoners and restoration of rights looted from them. But in the last six months, this government has surrendered before New Delhi and failed to take a stand on key matters,” she said.
Mehbooba Mufti expressed disappointment over the government’s lack of action on vital public concerns. “There is no discussion on the termination of employees or the rights of daily wagers.Instead of addressing people’s expectations, the government is indulging in petty politics over transfers. Why is Omar Abdullah silent on the issue of the Srinagar-New Delhi railway service halt at Katra? Did people vote for Patwaris’ transfers or for real governance?”
On the recent passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill in Rajya Sabha, Mehbooba accused the government of targeting Muslim institutions.
“This is not reform, this is loot. Muslim institutions are being bulldozed under this government,” she alleged.(KINS)
