Jammu, Apr 17 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today unveiled The Land of Souls – A Tale of Adventure and Discovery, a novel penned by 15-year-old Laranya R Kumar, at a special event in Jammu.

The book release ceremony saw the presence of Education Minister Sakeena Itoo, University of Jammu Vice Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai, Laranya’s family and friends, and the young author herself, whose literary journey began at the age of 13.

Praising Laranya’s achievement, the Chief Minister expressed admiration for her curiosity and creative spirit. “At an age when many are still exploring their interests, Laranya dared to ask questions like whether we’re alone in the universe—and she answered them through storytelling,” he said.

He emphasized that her work is a testament to imagination and discipline, remarking, “She not only envisioned other worlds but also gave them life through her words. Her ability to craft such a narrative at this age is both impressive and inspiring.”

Explaining his presence at the event, Omar Abdullah said, “Achievements like Laranya’s need to be celebrated. She sets a shining example—not only for her peers but for people of all ages.”

The Chief Minister also shared his excitement about Laranya’s upcoming projects, expressing hope that her work would encourage more young minds to read and write. “Reading, once embraced early, becomes a lifelong companion,” he noted.

He concluded by urging young people to pick up books, discover new perspectives, and support voices like Laranya’s who are reshaping the literary landscape with fresh imagination.(KINS)
