Sad to see NC MP dragging feet from Delimitation Commission: Avinash Rai Khanna

‘They claim people’s representatives and shy away from ensuring justice to people’

Srinagar, May 29 (KINS): Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Affair’s Incharge Avinash Rai Khanna today castigated the National Conference Member Parliament Hasnain Masoodi for dragging feet from the Delimitation Commission stating that it is an irony that these people claim to be representatives of people and shy away from the people’s demands.

“This has been the long pending demand of people of J&K that delimitation must take place. Now when Centre constituted the commission that made NC MP’s Farooq Abdudllah and Hasnain Masoodi as its members to ensure transparency, NC MP is dragging his feet. This is unfortunate,”Khanna told news agency KINS over phone from New Delhi.

Earlier, Masoodi had told KINS that he won’t be part of any process in which he and his party had been opposing the Supreme Court stating that he will not take part in the exercise. His party—NC is holding hectic parleys over the issue and will clear the air in the evening. NC chief Dr. Farooq Abdullah is in touch with his party men over the issue and will make an important announcement in the evening.

Sources, however, told KINS that Centre laid a trap for NC that had brought a bill in the erstwhile assembly in 2002 seeking a ban on the delimitation of Assembly seats till 2026. Now Assembly stands dissolved and J&K is governed by the Central laws being a UT, NC is in a fix over the delimitation issue.(KINS)
