J&K ACB catches Patwari red-handed taking bribe in Budgam

Srinagar , July 12 (KINS):The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday trapped and arrested Patwari, posted at Halqa Humchipora, Budgam, while he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of 2,000 from a complainant.

According to an official statement, the ACB received a “written complaint alleging that the Patwari was demanding ₹2,000 each for processing two sale deeds to effect mutation (Intiqal) of land situated at Alamnaag, Khag in favour of the complainant through the online land records system.

Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB initiated discreet verification, which confirmed the bribe demand. Following this, FIR No. 14/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar, and a formal investigation was launched.

A trap team was subsequently constituted, and in a well-planned operation, the team caught Tahir Jan Malla, a resident of Sebdan, Budgam, red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of ₹2,000.

The accused was taken into custody after completion of all legal and medico-formalities.

The investigation is ongoing, and further action will follow as per the law”.(KINS)
