Police Station Akhnoor declared best in J&K by MHA; DGP Nalin Prabhat presents certificate of excellence

Jammu, July 16, (KINS): In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir Police, Police Station Akhnoor has been adjudged the Best Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir for the year 2024 by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

To mark this prestigious recognition, Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat, IPS, visited Police Station Akhnoor and presented the Certificate of Excellence to the team. He was accompanied by IGP Jammu Zone B.S. Tuti, IPS; IGP CRPF Jammu  Gopala K. Rao, IPS; DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS; DC Jammu Sachin Vaishya, IAS; and SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, JKPS.

MLA Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Bhagat, also graced the occasion as a special guest. The event witnessed the presence of senior officials from the Army, BSF, CRPF, intelligence agencies, civil administration, along with Zonal SPs of Jammu, all SDPOs of District Jammu, and SHOs of the Rural Zone.

This honour is part of a nationwide initiative by the Police Modernisation Division of MHA, supported by TransRural research agency. Out of 17,932 police stations across the country, 76 were shortlisted based on stringent performance metrics, with Police Station Akhnoor ranking among the top performers.

Launched in 2015 by the Prime Minister during the DGP/IGP Conference in Kutch, Gujarat, the initiative aims to promote excellence, innovation, and citizen-centric policing. It has since become a regular feature of the Ministry’s efforts to modernize and uplift policing standards across India.

Speaking on the occasion, DGP Sh. Nalin Prabhat congratulated the Jammu Police team and praised the dedication of the officers. He specially lauded the contribution of then SHO Insp. Tariq Ahmed; SDPO Mohan Sharma, JKPS; SP Rural  Brijesh Sharma, JKPS; and SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, JKPS, for their exemplary leadership during 2024. He also extended his best wishes to the current SHO Insp. Sanjeev Chib and SDPO Varinder Gupta, JKPS, urging them to carry forward the legacy of excellence.

IGP Jammu Zone B.S. Tuti, IPS, also congratulated the Akhnoor police team and encouraged them to continue upholding high standards of professionalism and public service.(KINS)
