Massive Traffic Enforcement Drive Launched Across Kulgam District
Kulgam, July 19 (KINS): In one of the largest traffic enforcement operations of the year, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Kulgam launched a comprehensive crackdown on traffic violations across the district. The drive was conducted on the directions of Secretary to the Government, Transport Department, Sh. Naveen SL (IAS), Transport Commissioner J&K Sh. Vishesh Mahajan, and RTO Kashmir Sh. Irfan Qazi.
Supervised by ARTO Kulgam Dr. Showkat Ahmad Bhat (JKAS), the operation was executed with the support of Motor Vehicle Inspectors Shahid Cherag and Mushtaq Ganai, along with Motor Vehicle Traffic Assistants Rakesh Raina, Suhail Wani, and Shabir Dar. The enforcement teams conducted rigorous checks on over 300 vehicles at key locations throughout the district.
The crackdown resulted in, 174 challans issued for various violations, Fines totaling approximately ₹1.65 lakh, 30 vehicles seized and impounded for lacking valid documentation 14 driving licences suspended for repeated or major violations, 43 vehicles blacklisted due to expired or fraudulent documents, 12 vehicles served notices for route permit suspensions.
Speaking on the enforcement, Dr. Showkat Ahmad Bhat stated that the objective was not only to penalize offenders but to instill a sense of accountability and promote road safety. He emphasized the importance of following traffic laws and urged the public to ensure their vehicle documents are valid and up to date.
Authorities said the crackdown sends a strong message to habitual violators and those flouting transport regulations. The ARTO Kulgam team affirmed that similar drives will continue in the coming months, aiming to enhance road safety and compliance across the region.(KINS)
