CM offers condolences at residence of late journalist Tariq Ahmad Bhat

Srinagar, Nov 5 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday visited the residence of senior journalist and Bureau Chief of The Week magazine, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, to offer condolences to the bereaved family.

The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over Bhat’s untimely demise, recalling his invaluable contribution to journalism in Jammu and Kashmir. He described Bhat as a dedicated professional whose balanced and insightful reporting had earned him immense respect in media circles.

“The state has lost an upright journalist who always upheld the ethics of the profession. His work will continue to inspire generations of journalists,” the Chief Minister said, according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) while extending sympathy to the bereaved family.

He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the family to bear this irreparable loss.

Tariq Ahmad Bhat passed away on Tuesday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Srinagar. A seasoned journalist with decades of experience, he was widely known for his integrity, humility, and deep understanding of Jammu and Kashmir’s socio-political landscape. His death has left the media fraternity in shock and mourning across the region. (KINS)
