Srinagar, Nov 05 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday delivered the keynote address at the International Symposium on “Peace, People and Possibilities in Jammu & Kashmir”, organised by Vishwagram, a non-profit organisation promoting education, compassion, art and service across India.
In his address, the LG said that over the past five years, enormous sacrifices have been made to make Jammu and Kashmir peaceful, progressive and prosperous, adding that the region now stands as a symbol of transformation and resilience.
“Jammu Kashmir today is peaceful, fear-free, united and on the path of prosperity. Every citizen is empowered and touched by India’s rapid progress,” Sinha said. “The peace visible in J&K has opened the door for mutual respect and equal opportunity, allowing everyone to live a dignified life.”
Highlighting the change under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the LG said, “We have followed the principles of people-first, social justice and equality, which have transformed both the lives of our people and this crown jewel of the nation.”
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to dismantling the terror ecosystem, Sinha said, “We are determined to strengthen socio-economic development and turn the dreams of our youth into reality.”
He added that J&K has moved from an era of violence to one of hope and harmony. “The sound of bullets and grenades has been replaced by music and enthusiasm. Schools now echo with laughter and learning instead of stone pelting, and towns like Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam have emerged as centres of culture and creativity. Markets such as Lal Chowk and Polo View are thriving again with new energy,” he said.
Calling the people of J&K the “heartbeat of peace,” Sinha urged all sections of society to work together against forces that seek to disturb harmony and to confront challenges like drug abuse and radicalisation.
“Peace, progress and prosperity can only be achieved when everyone follows the rule of law and contributes to the greater good of society,” the LG emphasised. (KINS)
