LG Manoj Sinha inaugurates inter-university wushu championship, urges youth to stay away from drugs

Srinagar, May 04 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday inaugurated the All India Inter-University Wushu Championship at the University of Kashmir.
Speaking at the event, the Lieutenant Governor called upon athletes to act as ambassadors of the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan and motivate youth to stay away from drugs and take up sports.
He said the administration is committed to promoting a strong sports culture in educational institutions and ensuring equal opportunities for students to lead healthy and active lives.
Describing the championship as more than just a sports event, he said it promotes unity, discipline, and national integration. He added that such events help build friendships and strengthen the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat.”
The Lieutenant Governor also encouraged athletes to spread awareness against drug abuse through social media and inspire others to adopt a positive lifestyle.
The championship has attracted participation from over 150 universities and more than 1,000 athletes from across the country. The six-day event includes various Wushu competitions for both men and women.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan and several senior officials, sports personalities, and students were present at the inaugural ceremony.(KINS)
