Anantnag, June 5 (KINS): The body of a Srinagar man who drowned while attempting to save his son from the Lidder River in Pahalgam was recovered on Friday after an extensive search operation, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Mir (42), son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar.
According to officials, Mir had jumped into the fast-flowing Lidder River near the Langanbal area of Pahalgam on Thursday after his son accidentally slipped into the water during a family outing. While the child was rescued, Mir was swept away by the strong currents and went missing.
