J&K Police marks world environment day with mega plantation drive across Kashmir Valley

Srinagar, June 05 (KINS): J&K Police launched mega plantation drives across the districts of Kashmir valley which witnessed enthusiastic participation from police officers and personnel at all levels, and planted thousands of saplings across police establishments including District Police Headquarters, SDPO offices, District Police Lines, Police Stations and Police Posts to promote afforestation, enhance green cover and raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.

IGP Kashmir Shri V.K Birdi-IPS led the plantation drive organized at the premises of District Police Office Ganderbal. On the occasion IGP Kashmir was accompanied by IGP Traffic, Shri Mohd Suleman Choudhary-IPS, IGP CID, Shri Tejinder Singh-IPS, DIG CKR, Shri Rajiv Pandey-IPS, and SSP Ganderbal, Shri Sudhanshu Dhama-IPS, along with other officers and officials of District Police Ganderbal. During the event, various saplings were planted within the DPO premises with the aim of promoting a greener and healthier environment. The senior officers highlighted the significance of environmental protection and emphasized the collective responsibility of society in preserving natural resources for future generations.

In Srinagar, district-wide Tree Plantation Drives were organized across all Police establishments. The main drive was carried out under the supervision of SSP Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, at DPL Srinagar. SP Headquarters, DySP Headquarters, DySP DAR, along with other officers and officials, actively participated in the programme. Similar Plantation drives were conducted across all Police Stations and Police Posts under the supervision of concerned Zonal SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and ICPPs. During the campaign, a large number of saplings were planted within Police premises and at identified locations across the district. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Srinagar emphasized the importance of collective efforts towards environmental protection and highlighted that such initiatives contribute to building a cleaner, healthier and greener future for coming generations.

In Budgam, a district-wide plantation drive was organized across all police establishments in the district. The initiative was carried out at District Police Headquarters Budgam, DPL Budgam, all Sub-Divisional Police Offices, Police Stations, and Police Posts across the district, with active participation from officers and personnel of all ranks.

In Kulgam, ornamental saplings were planted at all police establishments, including District Police Office and District Police Lines Kulgam. Officers and officials of Kulgam Police actively participated in the initiative with enthusiasm. At DPO Kulgam, SSP Kulgam Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS planted a sapling and highlighted the significance of World Environment Day. He emphasized that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and urged all ranks and citizens to contribute towards a greener, cleaner and healthier future through sustained plantation and conservation efforts. Officers including DySP HQRS Kulgam were also present on the occasion.

In Ganderbal, Police organised a plantation drive across all police establishments in the district. During the drive, police personnel planted a variety of saplings within the premises of police offices, police stations, and other establishments. The initiative was aimed at raising environmental awareness and contributing to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment. Police reiterated its commitment towards safeguarding the environment and encouraged the public to actively participate in such eco-friendly initiatives for a greener future.

In Shopian, around 1,000 ornamental saplings were planted at various police establishments, including the District Police Office and DPL Shopian. Officers and officials of Shopian Police actively participated in the initiative with enthusiasm. At DPO Shopian, SSP Shopian planted a sapling and highlighted the significance of World Environment Day. He emphasized that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and urged all ranks and citizens to contribute towards a greener, cleaner and healthier future through sustained plantation and conservation efforts.

In Pulwama, the main plantation programme was held at District Police Lines Pulwama, where SSP Pulwama, Ms. Tanushree-IPS, joined police officers and personnel in planting saplings. Speaking on the occasion, she underscored the importance of environmental protection and encouraged all ranks to contribute towards preserving natural resources and maintaining ecological balance.

In Anantnag, Police organised a plantation drive at various locations across the district as part of its commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development. Police officers and personnel actively participated in the drive and planted a large number of saplings with the objective of promoting a greener and healthier environment. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection, afforestation, and collective responsibility towards preserving natural resources for future generations. Speaking on the occasion, officers highlighted the significance of World Environment Day and emphasized the need for active public participation in safeguarding the environment.

In Kupwara, saplings were planted at District Police Office Kupwara, DPL Kupwara, SOG Kupwara, and across various Police Stations and Police Posts of the district, including PS Kupwara, PS Kralpora, PS Lalpora, PS Sogam, PS Karnah, and PS Keran. On the occasion, SSP Kupwara Shri. Al Tahir Gilani (JKPS) emphasized the significance of World Environment Day and highlighted the collective responsibility of protecting and preserving the environment for future generations.

In Awantipora, Police officers and personnel actively participated in the drive by planting saplings within the premises of various police establishments. The participants highlighted the significance of tree plantation in maintaining ecological balance, combating climate change, and preserving natural resources for future generations. The drive also reaffirmed the commitment of Police District Awantipora towards environmental protection and sustainable development.

In Sopore, more than 500 saplings were planted across Police District Sopore by officers and personnel of various police units, police stations, police posts and other establishments. A plantation programme was also organized at DPL Sopore, where SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib-JKPS, along with other senior officers and police personnel, participated in the drive and planted saplings. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Sopore highlighted the importance of environmental protection and emphasized that tree plantation is a simple yet effective step towards combating climate change, improving air quality and ensuring a greener future for coming generations.

In Handwara, saplings were planted at District Police Office Handwara, DPL Handwara and across various Police Offices, Police Stations and Police Posts of the district. On the occasion, SSP Handwara Shri. Sahil Sarangal-IPS emphasized the significance of World Environment Day and highlighted the collective responsibility of protecting and preserving the environment for future generations. He stressed that plantation drives play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, combating climate change, and creating a greener and healthier future.
