Omar Abdullah chairs review meeting on Muharram arrangements

Srinagar, June 15 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday chaired a comprehensive meeting to review preparations for the upcoming Muharram observances across Jammu and Kashmir, directing all concerned departments to ensure seamless arrangements for devotees.
The meeting was attended by ministers, legislators, senior government officers and representatives of various Shia organisations, who shared suggestions and inputs regarding the smooth conduct of Muharram.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed arrangements related to power and water supply, healthcare facilities, sanitation, traffic management, security and other essential services.
Emphasising the significance of Muharram, Omar Abdullah directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience during the observance.
He instructed officials to maintain uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply, strengthen healthcare services, improve sanitation measures and implement effective traffic management plans along procession routes and at major congregation points.
The Chief Minister said the administration must ensure that all necessary facilities are put in place so that Muharram is observed with dignity, safety and convenience. He also assured representatives of Shia organisations that the government would take all required steps to address their concerns and facilitate smooth observance of the religious occasion.
Officials informed the meeting about the preparations undertaken by various departments and assured that all arrangements would be completed well in advance. (KINS)
