Srinagar, July 10: The Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) on Friday concluded its three-day Familiarization (FAM) Tour to the border destinations of Keran and Lolab Valley, aimed at promoting offbeat tourism and encouraging sustainable destination development in Kashmir.
The tour, flagged off from Srinagar by TAAK President Farooq A. Kuthoo on July 8, saw participation from more than 30 travel agents from across the Valley. The delegation explored the tourism potential of the two destinations through field visits, stakeholder interactions, and meetings with local authorities.
During the visit, members interacted with local communities, tourism entrepreneurs, civil administration, and security agencies to discuss tourism infrastructure, visitor facilities, safety measures, destination management, and sustainable tourism practices.
Speaking on the occasion, Kuthoo said Keran and Lolab possess immense natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and significant tourism potential. He said the FAM Tour was aimed at bringing these lesser-explored destinations onto Kashmir’s tourism map while promoting responsible tourism that benefits local communities and protects the region’s environment.
He said TAAK would continue working with the government, Tourism Department, district administration, security agencies, and local stakeholders to strengthen tourism infrastructure and develop border tourism as a sustainable source of livelihood.
The association thanked the district administration, Tourism Department, security agencies, and local residents for supporting the successful conduct of the tour.
Omar Amin, owner of Dream Peak Tour and Travels, said the initiative helped travel agents understand the tourism potential of Keran and Lolab. He expressed hope that the tour would give a major boost to tourism in both destinations.
