Srinagar, July 12(KINS) : Reaffirming its commitment to nation-building and the socio-economic development of border communities, the Dagger Division under Chinar Corps, in collaboration with the Bank of New York (BNY) and the International Association for Human Values (IAHV), inaugurated the upgraded Government Boys Middle School at Khabna in the Uri sector of Baramulla district.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior Army officers, representatives of BNY and IAHV, officials from the civil administration and education department, village elders, and students.
Located in the strategically significant border area of Uri, the Government Boys Middle School has long served children from economically weaker sections of nearby villages. However, inadequate infrastructure had limited its ability to provide a conducive learning environment.
The upgraded school now features a modern six-classroom academic block designed to support contemporary teaching and learning, a new Mid-Day Meal (MDM) kitchen to ensure hygienic preparation and distribution of nutritious meals, and two newly constructed sanitation blocks aimed at improving hygiene, dignity, and the overall well-being of students.
According to a defence spokesperson, the initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued efforts to complement its security role with developmental initiatives in border areas. Besides safeguarding the nation’s frontiers, the Army remains actively engaged in promoting education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and humanitarian outreach to improve the quality of life for local communities.(KINS)
