Poonch, July 19 (KINS): At least 14 people have lost their lives in devastating flash floods triggered by torrential rainfall in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district, while several others remain missing, according to the latest reports.
The flash floods caused widespread devastation, damaging houses, vehicles, roads and other public infrastructure as raging waters swept through several areas of the tehsil.
A large-scale rescue and relief operation is underway, with the Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Administration and local volunteers working round the clock to evacuate stranded residents and trace the missing.
Authorities have appealed to the public to stay away from rivers, streams and other flood-prone areas, as rescue efforts continue and officials assess the extent of the damage across the affected region.(KINS)
