J&K Police approves attachment of 15 kanals land, two houses in Kupwara terror case

Srinagar, Sep 17 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Police has approved the attachment of properties allegedly linked to two individuals whom police records identify as Pakistan-based terrorists, in connection with a case registered at Police Station Kupwara.
Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat has accorded prior approval under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for attachment of the properties in connection with FIR No. 276/2022.
According to the official document, the properties located at Kachama, Kupwara, include 15 kanals and 7 marlas of land and two residential houses.
The properties are registered in the names of Ab Majid Qureshi, son of Ab Rouf Qureshi, and Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi, son of Mohd Mustafa Qureshi, both residents of Kachama.
The document states that the properties have been treated as alleged “proceeds of terrorism” under Section 2(1)(g)(ii) of the UAPA and are liable for attachment in the case.
The property details include 10 kanals and 7 marlas of land along with a three-storeyed house associated with Ab Majid Qureshi, and 5 kanals of land with a single-storeyed house associated with Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi.
The proceedings refer to various provisions of the IPC and UAPA, including Sections 120-B, 121, 121-A, 122 and 123 of the IPC, and Sections 17, 18, 18-A, 18-B, 20, 38, 39 and 40 of the UAPA.
The directions have been issued to the DSP DAR Kupwara, with copies forwarded to senior police and intelligence officials, including the ADG CID, IG Kashmir Zone, AIG CT/INT and SSP Kupwara.
The attachment forms part of the ongoing legal proceedings in the Kupwara case concerning properties allegedly connected with terrorism-related activities.(KINS)
