Army soldier injured in Poonch LoC shelling

Poonch, June 17 : An Army soldier was injured after Pakistani army “violated ceasefire” in Krishana Ghati Sector of Mendhar in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

A police officer told that in violation of ceasefire Pakistani army opened unprovoked fire and used mortar shells upon Indian posts in Krishna Ghati Sector today morning.

The fire was responded strongly triggering off cross-LoC shelling, he said.

In the incident one army soldier sustained injuries and was immediately evacuated to nearby military hospital for treatment, he said.

When reports last came in the exchange of shelling was going on in the area.

Pertinently, three civilians were injured last night in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Shahpur sector, the officer said.

He identified the injured as Raziea Bi daughter of Nazir Hussain of Shahpur and Maryam daughter of Mohd Bashir of Kankote and Mohd Akbar (army porter) son of Shah Mohd of Kayian, Shahpur.

Reports said that six residential houses also got damaged during the shelling. (GNS)
