Police books 03 drug peddlers under PSA in Budgam and Ganderbal

February 15: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Budgam and Ganderbal booked three notorious drug peddlers under Public safety Act.

Officers in Budgam had earlier seized huge quantity of narcotic drugs from the possession of two individuals. A Case FIR No 08/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Magam in this regard.

Accordingly the case was duly processed and the arrested drug peddlers were detained under Public Safety Act after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities.  The drug peddlers have been identified as Ashiq Ahmad Gojri resident of Kawoosa Khalisa and Tariq Ahmad Parray resident of Warihama Magam.

Similarly in Ganderbal Officers had earlier seized banned drugs from the possession of a drug peddler identified as Nazir Ahmed Rather @Kanwar resident of Wakura Ganderbal. A case under relevant sections of law stands registered in this regard.

Accordingly the case was duly processed and the arrested drug peddler was detained under Public Safety Act after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities and shifted to Kupwara jail.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
