Advisor Sharma reviews academic scenario, admission process of CU Jammu

Srinagar, Apr 04 (KINS): Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, K.K. Sharma today held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Cluster University Jammu (CLUJ), Anju Bhasin via video conferencing to review academic scenario and admission process for session 2020-21 in the varsity.

The meeting was held using ‘Zoom Cloud’ platform as part of social distancing measures announced to contain the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19).

On the occasion, the Advisor welcomed the digital initiatives of the university wherein faculty and students can come together through digitalized framework management both in academia and administration. He appreciated the efforts of the university in moving towards a tech platform for the benefit of students.

During the video conference, Advisor Sharma also interacted with faculty members and other staff of University and applauded their rich contribution towards student community at a challenging time when the world is amidst a critical health crisis.

He exhorted upon the University authorities to publicize their digital programmes so that the student community can derive maximum benefits of their initiatives. He advised the teaching fraternity to make optimum use of ICT tools as a regular feature of their teaching methodology.

The Vice-Chancellor informed about the digital initiative adopted by the University schools and its five affiliated-colleges for facilitating the student community to cover their remaining course work during the lockdown period. She added that the varsity is providing course material and conducting virtual classroom discussions by using tech modes of Google Classroom and Zoom Cloud and informally through whatsapp groups.

“More importantly, the course content is also being uploaded on the Cluster University website wherein the students can log in and download the e-content,” the VC briefed the Advisor.

She also said that the University academic body is mulling to start a Massive Open Online Courses‎ in all the Integrated programmes from the forthcoming session.

The virtual meeting was also attended by Prof. Bhopinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs; Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar, Controller of Examination; Deans of faculties; Dean Students Welfare; Principals of Constituent colleges, Chief Accounts Officer; University IT team and also the admission coordinators.

Dean Academic Affairs also conveyed that the University, GGM Science College and SPMR college of Commerce are regularly updating their respective websites with learning material as per the course requirements.

The issue of admission process to new batches for session 2020-21 was also deliberated during the interaction and it was resolved to initiate the same on the completion of class 12 examinations.(KINS)
