GNS Editor demise: Tanveer ul Ahad remembered for his generosity, impeccable integrity

Srinagar, May 12 (KINS): People from all walks of life are shocked over the death of editor GNS and Kashmir Glory, Tanveer ul Ahad who breathed his last Monday at SMHS hospital after a brief illness.

He was 35 and survived by his wife and three children.

His friends and colleagues said he was a humble and known for his generosity, kindness, compassion and empathy.

Director Information & PR Syed Sehrish Asgar has condoled the sad demise of Tanveer ul Ahad.

Expressing sympathy with his family members, Director Information prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

“Grim news. Final audie given to Tanveerul Ahad, a talented editor of wire service – GNS and paper Kashmir glory – at his Kupwara home. He is survived by  two minor girls, wife and parents. RIP Tanveer. Jannatul firdous,” wrote senior journalist Mufti Islah on Twitter, while sharing picture of his funeral.

Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) led by Dr Nisar ul Hassan prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.

Paying rich tributes to the deceased, Dr Nisar said his death is a great loss to the media fraternity and has resulted in an unbridgeable void in the field of journalism.

“Born in village Muqami Shahwali of Drugmulla area in district Kupwara, Tanveer was a man of impeccable integrity,” he said.

Dr Nisar said he started his career in daily Alsafa newspaper and later moved to Kashmir Horizon and then to PBI news agency till he established his own media house, GNS.

“By dint of his hard work, GNS in a short time became a household name in Kashmir valley,” he said.

Dr Nisar said he was a fearless and uncompromising journalist who spoke truth to power. He was always respected and revered for his brave journalism and for him, the newspaper was a conduit for speaking truth.

“His contributions in the field of journalism will be remembered for a long time to come,” he said.

Calling the death as an irreparable loss, Dr Nisar said we have lost a gem of a person in the demise of Tanveer-ul- Ahad.

 “Media has lost an asset, but I have lost a dear friend,” said Dr Nisar.

Suhail Khan, who has closely worked with the deceased said, “You (Tanver) have taught me what #Journalism is. It is a great loss to me as I lost my great Mentor, Teacher, Guide, and an Elder Brother. He has been an inspiration for me as a Journalist and I always aspire to be like him. He infused in me passion for Journalism. He was a very helpful and supporting human being and always encouraged me to strive for excellence with his down to earth attitude. I pray my tribute to this great soul with whom I got a chance to work and will always try to follow the footprints laid down by him.”

Shafat Ahmad said, “I am deeply saddened by the news of my best friend Tanveer Ul Ahad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May the love of family and friends comfort you during these difficult days, my most heartfelt condolences.”

Mehvish Mumtaz wrote on Facebook, “Death can never take a good man away, for, in the hearts of the people he inspired, the legacy remains and continuous throughout generations. Tanveer bhaie was a great teacher and father to many and may his soul find eternal rest.”(KINS)
