WCD Ministry constitutes task force to examine issues related to lowering Maternal Mortality Rate

Srinagar, June 06 (KINS): The central government has constituted a task force to examine issues related to age of motherhood, lowering Maternal Mortality Rate and improvement of nutritional levels.

According to news agency KINS the task force will be headed by Jaya Jaitly and it will submit its report by 31st July of next month.

“The task force set up by the Women and Child Development Ministry will suggest suitable legislations and amendments in existing laws and also chalk out a detailed roll-out plan with timelines to implement these recommendations” the officials said.

 They said that the task Force will examine the issues related to Infant Mortality Rate, Maternal Mortality Rate, Total Fertility Rate, Sex Ratio at Birth, Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and any other issues pertaining to health and nutrition. “It will also suggest measures for promoting higher education among women. Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget Speech for 2020-21 had announced to set up a task force for women”.(KINS)
