Several shops, Residential house damaged in landslide in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL 17 July : Several shops and one residential house were damaged in a landslide in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday.

Official sources told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that there was a landslide while earth caved in as well damaging shops and house in Bonibagh area of Kangan on Srinagar-Leh Highway.

The landslide occurred on Friday, Eyewitnesses said that a large number of trees were also destroyed in the landslide.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kangan, Hakim Tanvir told KINS that earth caved after a landslide in Bonibagh area, 7 kilometers away from Kangan town. He said that several shops and 1 houses suffered damages in the incident.

The SDM said that there was no loss of life in the incident. “Men and machinery have been pressed into service to clear the debris. Road will be thrown open shortly,”he added.(KINS)
