BANDIPORA, AUGUST 19: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad today reviewed the progress of roads being constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the progress achieved under PMGSY and a threadbare discussion was held with regard to the bottlenecks that hinder the early completion of various projects.

It was given out that PMGSY has set a target to macadamize 130 Kilometer roads across the district and the work is in full swing on 71 road projects out of which 30 works have been completed. Officers informed that construction and macadamization of roads is at different stages of completion

The DDC directed the officers to review the pending projects for want of any clearance and get the issues sorted out so that these projects are completed at an earliest.

He directed the officers of PMGSY to coordinate with concerned authorities and settle all the issues including pending land acquisition cases, forest clearances etc for early completion of  PMGSY roads.

Dr Owais stressed upon concerned officers to ensure the quality standards in road construction with climate-resilient construction so that the roads can withstand the vagaries of climate in higher reaches especially in Gurez.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Divisional Forest Officer, Executive Engineer PMGSY and other concerned officers.
