DDC Shopian calls for improvement in education scenario in the district


Srinagar, Feb 09 (KINS): The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, SB Suse today stressed upon the concerned officers to improve the education scenario in the district.
He impressed upon all the officers to take necessary steps to improve the ranking of the schools in the district and directed the concerned officers to work tirelessly for the improvement of education scenario in Shopian.
The DDC said this during a meeting convened here to review the status of ongoing work projects of the Education sector under District Capex, MDM, SAMAGRA, State Capex and Scholarship schemes.
The chair was briefed about the implementation of various schemes and other work projects which stand completed in the district.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to ensure effective implementation of the schemes besides emphasising upon the concerned executing agencies to complete the ongoing work projects within the stipulated time.
The meeting was informed that 38 winter tutorials have been set up in the district in which 6100 students are getting education by 208 staff members. It was also informed that 304 students of the district have been referred to Srinagar coaching centres for winter coaching.
It was given out that 15941 students from class 1st to 8th were provided free text books last year while 15951 students got free textbooks this year in the district.
Among others the meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Chief Education Officer, Dy Chief Education Officer, ZEOs and other concerned engineers/officers.(KINS)
