Cultural Unit Srinagar of DIPR celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 2( KINS): A mesmerizing cultural programme was today organised by Cultural Unit Srinagar of Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi at Joint Directorate of Information Kashmir.

On the occasion, artists presented various patriotic songs among which Mushtaq Ahmad Saznawaz played Gandhi Bhajan “Vaishnav Jan To Jene Kahiye Peed Paraayi Jaane Re” on santoor accompanied by sarangi nawaz GM Anzwali and Matka expert GM Khanday was the masterpiece.

Speaking at the event, Cultural Officer Kashmir, Burhan Hussain said that a freedom fighter who tread the path of non-violence, Gandhi’s words and actions won over the masses and several people joined him as he led the Dandi Salt March in 1930. His way of life should be an inspiration to all of us, he added.Hussain appreciated the artists of the cultural unit for their praiseworthy talent. All the officers and employees of JDI Kashmir attended the function.( KINS)
