Srinagar Jan 02: In response to the apprehensions raised by truckers regarding the stringent legal provision under Section 106 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, the Government of India has initiated a dialogue with representatives of the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) to address their concerns.
Today, during a comprehensive discussion, the government emphasized that the recently proposed laws and provisions, including the provision carrying a penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine, have not yet been implemented. The assurance comes as a measure to alleviate the anxieties among the trucking community regarding the potential impact of the legal provisions on their livelihoods.
The government clarified its stance, stating that any decision to enforce Section 106 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita would only be made after thorough consultation with the All India Motor Transport Congress. This commitment aims to involve key stakeholders in the decision-making process, ensuring a balanced and well-informed approach.
In a statement, the government urged the AIMTC and all truck drivers to resume their respective duties, highlighting the importance of a collaborative effort in addressing the concerns raised. The appeal serves as a call for cooperation between the government and the trucking industry to find amicable solutions that consider the interests of all parties involved.
As the government seeks to strike a balance between regulatory measures and the concerns of the trucking community, the ongoing consultation process reflects a commitment to transparency and inclusive decision-making. The reassurance provided by the authorities aims to foster a constructive dialogue and pave the way for a mutually agreeable resolution to the issues at hand.
