Srinagar, Jan 19: A video depicting five young boys hanging from the open doors and bonnet of a Maruti car with registration number in Sonmarg has gone viral on social media, raising concerns about public safety.
In response to this life-threatening stunt that not only jeopardizes the lives of commuters, pedestrians, and other drivers but also encourages teenagers to engage in perilous activities, Dr. Mudasser Tramboo, JKPS, DySP Traffic Ganderbal-Bandipora, took immediate action. Under the supervision of SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, RP Singh, JKPS, the said vehicle was seized under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, vide L-Tem No.958452. Additionally, the cancellation of the vehicle’s registration certificate has been initiated with the concerned authorities.
Authorities are urging drivers to adhere to traffic rules and standard operating procedures (SOPs), refrain from engaging in stunts and rash driving, and actively participate in awareness programs conducted by the traffic police during the ongoing National Road Safety Month 2024.
The stern message is reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against defaulters engaging in dangerous driving practices, violating prescribed Motor Vehicles Act rules. This proactive approach aims to save precious lives of drivers, commuters, and ensure the safety of the public at large. The traffic police remain committed to maintaining road safety and curbing hazardous activities on the roads.
