Srinagar, January 20: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has submitted a comprehensive chargesheet against two accused individuals in case FIR No. 94/2023, invoking sections 7/25 A Act; 13, 18, 20, 23, 38, 39 & 40 UA(P)Act at the Police Station Batamaloo. The chargesheet was formally filed in the Court of NIA Srinagar.
The accused are identified as Arfat Yousuf Khan, son of Mohd Yousuf Khan, a resident of Pethgam Rajpora (A1), and an associate of the deceased local terrorist Yawar Shafi Bhat, son of Mohd Shafi Bhat, resident of Kalampora Pulwama. The charges pertain to the recovery of Arms/Ammunition by Police Batamaloo Srinagar from the accused. The investigation established a connection between the duo through CDR/IPDR, culminating in the filing of the chargesheet on 19-01-2024.
Yawar Shafi Bhat was killed during an encounter with Security Forces/Police at Shah Mohalla Yadipora Palhallan within the jurisdiction of Police Station Pattan Baramulla on 30/09/2022. A separate case FIR No. 280/2022 has been registered at Police Station Pattan in relation to this encounter.
The hearing for the charges is scheduled for 19-02-2024, as the legal proceedings unfold in the Honorable Court of NIA Srinagar.
