Gulmarg Awaits Sporting Brilliance: Countdown begins for Khelo India Edition-4

BARAMULLA, JANUARY 22: In preparation of the 4th edition of Khelo India National Winter Games at Gulmarg, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa today convened a meeting of concerned officers at Golf Club Gulmarg to take stock of various arrangements put in place for holding the games.
During the meeting, the DC conducted a thorough review of arrangements related to the successful conduct of the National Winter Games. He issued directives to the concerned departments, urging them to adopt a cohesive approach to ensure the event’s resounding success.
Emphasizing on comprehensive planning, the DC underscored the importance of making all essential arrangements, such as health provisions, accommodation, sanitation, traffic regulation, lodging and other facilities well in advance with a focus on seamless execution.
Minga Sherpa further highlighted a pivotal role the National Games play in promoting the tourism sector. He stressed the significance of successfully conducting the games, as it would subsequently enhance tourist influx which will help in boosting the economy of the district.
The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer Gulmarg Development Authority, Sub Divisional Magistrate Gulmarg, Syed Altaf, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Muazzam Ali, District Youth Service and Sports Officer, officials from JSD, R&B, JKPDCL and other concerned departments.
Later, the DC met hoteliers of Gulmarg and urged them to ensure the availability of accommodations for athletes, spectators, and guests visiting the place during the sporting events. The hoteliers also presented certain issues and grievances, to which the DC assured prompt resolution.
