Kulgam shuts down against frequent power cuts

Kulgam, Dec 27, : South Kashmir’s Kulgam district Thursday observed a shutdown on Thursday against frequent power cuts in the district.

All shops and other commercial establishments remained shut in the area while skeletal movement of transport was observed on the roads.

The call for shutdown was forwarded by People’s Welfare committee of District Kulgam that also held a protest early morning against the Power Development Department (PDD).

The protesters alleged that  Kulgam is being discriminated and the department has paid no heed to the constant appeals of the general public to provide proper electricity to public in the area.

“The Kulgam township from the past few weeks is been provided less electricity and that too with frequent cuts and the same has forced us to come out on the streets,” they said
