Unidentified person dies of ‘severe cold’ in Anantnag

Srinagar, Dec 28 (GNS): Body of a 65-year-old person was recovered from Mattan area of Anantnag district on Friday late afternoon.

Reports reaching GNS said that the locals spotted the male body lying in an orchard at Mattan and accordingly informed the police station.
After being informed, the police team reached the spot and recovered the body, they said.
A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that it has been learnt that the man was wondering in the area since last three days and he was looking like a “mentally unsound”.
After conducting all the legal formalities, the body has been kept in a mortuary in PCR in the southern district for identification, he said.

“Subsequently, a case under 174 CrPc has been registered and further investigations were taken up,” the police officer said.  Apparently, it seems that the man has died of extreme cold, the officer added. (GNS)
