A Fresh Chapter in J&K Football: Almuqeet Football Club Announce Their Arrival with a 7–1 Debut Victory
Srinagar, August 24: Almuqeet Football Club announced its arrival in the Srinagar Premier Division Football League 2026 in emphatic fashion, defeating Arco FC 7–1 at the TRC Turf Football Stadium, Srinagar, in its first competitive outing.
Making their debut in the league, Almuqeet FC produced an attacking and composed display, combining intensity, confidence and clinical finishing to register a comprehensive victory. The result marks an encouraging beginning for a club that has entered Kashmir football with a long-term ambition of developing both a competitive senior side and a sustainable pathway for young footballers.
Football has deep roots in Kashmir, with the Valley having a rich footballing heritage and a passionate following that has sustained the sport across generations. From historic grounds and local leagues to the emergence of players competing at higher levels, Kashmir has consistently demonstrated that the appetite for football is matched by a considerable pool of talent. Almuqeet FC believes that much of this talent remains untapped and that the next phase of Kashmir football must focus on creating stronger pathways from grassroots and local competition to professional football.
The club is a football initiative of Almuqeet Systems Private Limited (ASPL), established in 2010 and headquartered at STPI, Rangreth, Srinagar. Through the club, ASPL seeks to bring meaningful corporate support into football and contribute towards creating a more structured and sustainable sporting ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir.
Almuqeet FC has been established with the vision of building a professionally managed football club and a sustainable football academy that can identify, nurture and develop local talent. The club aims to create opportunities for young footballers to train in a professional environment, compete at higher levels and pursue football as a serious sporting and career pathway.
The long-term ambition is to establish Almuqeet FC as one of J&K’s leading football institutions, with the vision of progressively competing at the highest levels of Indian football.
The club’s current Srinagar Premier Division squad brings together players with experience in the Youth National Teams, I-League, Srinagar Premier Division and Kashmir Super League, supported by an experienced coaching and management setup. The emphatic opening victory provides an early indication of the competitiveness and intent with which the club has entered the league.
Speaking after the match, Muzamil Mahmood, Head Coach, Almuqeet FC, AFC A License, said the result was less important than the manner in which the club had begun its journey.
“This is a new club and our vision is to provide a pathway to players and play good-quality football. Today’s result does not matter much to me; what matters is that we started well and our management has trusted us. That trust is important for a new club, and we want to repay it through our work on the pitch.”
He added, “This is only the beginning. We have a lot to learn, a lot to improve and a long season ahead. Our focus will be on developing the players, improving with every game and building a team that plays good football and represents the vision of the club.”
Appreciating the team’s performance, Zaffar Owais Andrabi, CEO, Almuqeet Systems Private Limited, congratulated the players, coaching staff and everyone associated with the team.
“This is a very encouraging start, but for us, this is only the first step. We are proud of the way the players have represented the club in our first competitive match. More importantly, we want to build something that goes beyond individual results.”

There is talent across the Valley, but we need to create better pathways, stronger structures and more opportunities for that talent to progress. The club will now turn its attention to the challenges ahead in the Srinagar Premier Division Football League, with the focus on building consistency, developing its players and continuing its journey towards becoming a significant force in J&K Football.
