Tral gunfight: Injured soldier succumbs in army hospital Udhampur

Srinagar, Jan 3 (GNS): An army soldier who was injured critically in a gunfight with militants in forest area  of Gulshanpora Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district succumbed to injuries in army’s command hospital in Udhampur.

Official sources told GNS that the soldier identified as Sepoy Nehminlan Haokip of 42 RR was airlifted to Udhampur where he succumbed to injuries.

A police officer also confirmed to GNS about the death of the soldier.

Earlier, the soldier was injured along two others in a fierce gnfight that saw killing of two Hizbul Mujahideen militants so far.

The encounter ensued after army’s 42 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation following the inputs about the presence of group of Hizbul Mujahideen militants in a hideout. (GNS)
