Sarpanch sells portion of school ground in Palhalan, ZEO expresses shock

Palhalan, Jan 28, : In a shocking incident, the incumbent Sarpanch in connivance with his predecessor have sold out the land belonging to a Government School at Ghat Palhalan area of North Kashmir’s Pattan town.

Reports said that Government Primary School Ghat Palhalan has a vast premise. A portion of this premise has been bought by one Hafeez Dar. Ironically, the said person has constructed a shed right in front of the school ground and when the teachers and locals enquired, he revealed that he has bought this portion of school ground from the incumbent Sarpanch of the area.

“There is proper fencing and yet selling the portion of school land to a private individual is shocking,” said a local to news agency.

The locals staged protest against the action of the Sarpanch and demand stern action against him. “How can a Sarpanch sell portion of school ground which is the property of the government. Revenue officials who helped this Sarpach in this fraud need to be exposed and taken to task,” the protesters said.

Zonal Education Officer Mrs Nuzhat while expressing shock said that she has already raised the issue with the concerned Tehsildar. Similar views were expressed by SDM Syed Naseer who assured that action will be initiated and the shed constructed on the school ground will be removed. (CNS)
